The past few weeks I have been thinking, what makes a great plumber? When you call "your plumber" out to do some service for you, what makes him the one that you call? Is it his pricing? The quality of his work? Or is it the people that the company has working for them? Is it their knowledge? What drives people to call a company to have them come and do some service?
I understand that it is some form of exposure to the company. How can someone expose their passion to someone else? Word of mouth works great, but it only goes so far. I guess the only hope is to know that someone is always watching. Watching how you work, what you do, how you do it, and if it fixed the problem. The thing I don’t understand is; I'm the professional, anything I say you will more than likely take as truth. You may research it after I leave but in all honesty, who does this? If I tell you. “Expansion tanks are pointless." You will take me for my word because I am saving you money. So then is it the price that drives people to a plumber? How about honest opinion? Does that fit in there, or is it reading the situation and telling you what you want to hear?
The only thing I can say about hiring a plumber for certain is, “Most plumbers have been trained to fix everything in your home." We get to see what homeowners try to do to fix plumbing issues. We are the barbers and bartenders of construction. We have the largest service in the industry. Think about that for a little, if your light won’t turn on you won’t call an electrician out to change your light bulbs. Even your light switches most homeowners know how to change plugs and switches. When it comes to a dripping faucet, leaking toilet, most problems that people see with a home, are linked to your plumber. Most homeowners have called a plumber out for at least one service call in their life. We are the face of home repairs. So when it comes time to call a plumber to fix a problem, remember we hear it all don't think that your alone in the problem that you are calling for. If you think it's minor, call a plumber we can more than likely tell you if we need to come out and fix it or if its a minor problem that truly will not cause any permanent damage.
So back to my question, what makes homeowners call a specific plumber?
